South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are standing firm in their decision to satirize U.S. President Trump in the upcoming season of the show, despite facing pressure from a group they described as having military backing. The duo, known for their Peabody Award-winning show, defended their irreverent animated series and highlighted their recent focus on mocking Trump’s presidency. They emphasized that South Park has always served as America’s court jester, but with Trump seemingly taking on that role himself.

Parker reflected on the show’s history of facing criticism for its boundary-pushing comedy, noting that various groups have tried to dictate what can and cannot be said over the past three decades. He emphasized the importance of having a comedic voice that challenges societal norms, a role they believe they have always fulfilled. Stone added that portraying Trump as the antagonist in the previous season was a deliberate choice to assert their creative identity.

The latest season of South Park, which aired in 2025 after a two-year break, drew attention for its bold portrayal of Trump in intimate scenes with Satan, reminiscent of their depiction of Saddam Hussein in the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. The season also featured a controversial fake campaign ad mocking Trump’s physical attributes. Additionally, prominent figures such as Vice-President JD Vance, former homeland security secretary Kristi Noem, and former U.S. attorney general Pam Bondi were satirized in politically charged episodes.

While some individuals critiqued their portrayal on the show, Stone and Parker remained undeterred by criticism, asserting their commitment to fearless and provocative storytelling. They expressed a defiant attitude towards detractors, emphasizing their dedication to producing content that they find amusing and impactful. Despite pushback from certain quarters, the creators affirmed their resolve to continue creating content that pushes boundaries and challenges societal norms.
