Two days following the apprehension of former reality TV personality Joseph Duggar from “19 Kids and Counting,” an arrest warrant was issued and served to his spouse, Kendra Duggar. The Tontitown Arkansas Police Department disclosed that Kendra Duggar faced four charges each of endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment in the second degree on Friday. Simultaneously, Joseph Duggar, her husband, was also charged with the same offenses. Joseph Duggar had been arrested the previous week in Tontitown for lewd and lascivious conduct involving a minor under 12 years old, as reported by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, related to an alleged 2020 incident in Panama Beach, Fla.
The statement from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office mentioned that the victim’s father confronted Joseph Duggar about the incidents on March 17, 2026, and Duggar confessed to both the victim’s father and Tontitown Detectives. Joseph Duggar opted out of an extradition hearing on Friday, paving the way for his transfer to Florida to face the child molestation charge. Following her arrest, Kendra Duggar was released on a $1,470 US bond as per information on the Washington County Sheriff’s Office website. The Duggar family chose not to respond to CBC News’ request for comments on Monday.
The charges against Joseph and Kendra Duggar come nearly five years after Joseph’s elder brother Josh Duggar was found guilty of downloading child sexual abuse images. In that case, it was revealed that a computer at a car dealership owned by Josh Duggar was utilized in 2019 to download images depicting child sexual abuse, leading to a 12½-year prison sentence in 2022. The Supreme Court rejected an appeal against his conviction in 2024. Both Josh and Joseph Duggar were featured in the reality TV show “19 Kids and Counting,” which revolved around the lives of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their children, all with names starting with the letter J.
The series, which began with 2004’s “14 Children and Pregnant Again!”, ran under various titles until 2015 when it was canceled due to allegations of Josh Duggar molesting his sisters and a babysitter in the past. Subsequently, the investigative authorities found that the statute of limitations had expired for any potential charges. The follow-up show, “Counting On,” was also axed following Josh Duggar’s arrest. Joseph and Kendra Duggar’s courtship and marriage were chronicled on the show, although they have since retreated from the public eye. Their most recent Instagram post dates back to 2021, celebrating their third child’s second birthday.
