The Blue Jays secured a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series through a combination of strong offense, solid pitching, and defensive lapses by the Mariners. Toronto’s Addison Barger sparked the scoring with a one-run single after fielding errors by the Mariners in the second inning. Barger and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. contributed key home runs to extend the Jays’ lead to 5-0.

Rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage’s impressive performance, with seven strikeouts over six innings, helped keep the Mariners scoreless for the first five innings. The Jays’ defense shone with three inning-ending double plays, including getting out of bases-loaded jams.

Although Seattle managed to score two runs in the sixth inning, Toronto responded in the next inning due to Mariners’ errors. Guerrero Jr. showcased his skills by scoring after being hit by a pitch, advancing on a single, and benefitting from Seattle’s mistakes to push the lead to 6-2.

The Blue Jays sealed the win with closer Jeff Hoffman striking out four Mariners in the later innings, leveling the series at 3-3. The decisive Game 7 will take place at Toronto’s Rogers Centre on Monday at 8:08 p.m. ET.

Both teams are gearing up for a thrilling showdown, with Toronto set to start Shane Bieber and Seattle to rely on George Kirby on the mound. The winner of Game 7 will advance to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. Toronto seeks to return to the pinnacle of baseball for the first time since 1993, while Seattle aims to make history by reaching the Fall Classic for the first time.
