A teenager hailing from the Edmonton region is facing fresh charges after a terrorism peace bond was issued due to suspected ties to an online network promoting violent extremism. Initially detained in May, the 15-year-old was subjected to peace bond procedures by the RCMP under apprehensions of terrorism activities.
The investigators indicated their belief that the adolescent was inclined towards engaging in terrorism-related acts associated with the 764 online network. This network targets susceptible children through gaming platforms like Minecraft and Roblox, enticing them into private online conversations. The 764 network allegedly promotes activities such as sexual acts, self-harm, and animal cruelty, with some members harboring extreme ideological perspectives that desensitize and radicalize children towards violence.
Law enforcement recently disclosed that the latest developments were prompted by “escalatory behavior in a February 2025 incident.” A peace bond empowers authorities to monitor individuals displaying potential criminal inclinations in the absence of concrete evidence of an actual offense.
Following a forensic examination of the teenager’s electronic devices, the RCMP pressed charges including involvement in a terrorist group, deliberate promotion of hatred, making threats, and possession of child exploitation material. While the police have refrained from divulging further details about the individual, identified as a male during previous court appearances, he remains detained at the Edmonton Young Offender Centre.
The teenager is slated to make a court appearance on Friday.
