After a tumultuous day following Drake’s placement of a large ice installation in a downtown Toronto parking lot, a man claims to have unveiled the release date for Drake’s upcoming album, “Iceman.” The discovery was made by a streamer known as Kishka, who found a blue folder hidden within one of the ice blocks, revealing that “Iceman” is scheduled to be released on May 15. This revelation was accompanied by a live stream where Kishka received a bag of cash.

Drake later confirmed the release date on his social media platform on Tuesday evening. Prior to this, the Toronto rapper had teased the album’s release date by sharing images of the ice installation on Instagram along with location coordinates and the caption “Release date inside.”

The ice structure quickly became a focal point for locals, who gathered to speculate on when the ice would melt, unveiling the long-awaited release date for Drake’s album. Some individuals even climbed the ice tower, using sledgehammers, blowtorches, and even setting fires on top of the ice. Laura Brabant, a spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service, reported that several people were observed using pickaxes and hammers on the ice, prompting police presence at the Bond Street and Dundas Street intersection.

Although no injuries were reported, concerns about public safety led to the deployment of officers for crowd and traffic control. Metal barricades have since been placed around the site in the city’s core near the Yonge-Dundas intersection.

The ice sculpture garnered significant online attention, with people live-streaming from the location and sharing images on social media platforms. Notably, Canadian influencer Zachery Dereniowski engaged the crowd by tossing car keys into the ice blocks, offering a free car to the finder. Subsequent stunts, including a thunderous explosion at Downsview Park and Drake’s courtside seats frozen in ice at a Raptors game, have kept fans buzzing about the album.

While some fans expressed excitement and curiosity about the album’s release, others found the prolonged buildup underwhelming. Despite differing opinions, the ice installation has succeeded in uniting the Toronto community, with security measures in place to ensure safety and control around the site.

The ongoing anticipation for “Iceman” comes amid high expectations following Drake’s past controversies, including his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Despite mixed reactions, the ice installation has proven to be a unique and engaging marketing tactic for the highly anticipated album.
