Drake has made history with his latest releases, as his three new albums, namely “Iceman,” “Habibti,” and “Maid of Honour,” have secured the top three positions on the Billboard 200 albums chart. This achievement marks the first time that a single artist has held the top three spots simultaneously on the chart.
“Iceman,” the much-anticipated album that Drake teased with a prominent ice structure in downtown Toronto and livestreamed episodes, claimed the No. 1 position, followed by “Habibti” at No. 2 and “Maid of Honour” at No. 3.
This success has now brought Drake’s tally of No. 1 albums on the chart to 15, placing him on par with Taylor Swift for the most solo artist No. 1 albums. All three albums were released on May 15, with “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour” arriving unexpectedly.
Each of the three albums offers a distinct musical experience. “Iceman” predominantly features rap tracks delving into Drake’s conflicts with Kendrick Lamar and Universal Music Group. In the opening track, “Make Them Cry,” Drake directly addresses the feud and asserts his stance.
On the other hand, “Habibti” takes a softer approach, focusing on themes of love and relationships through songs like “Slap the City” and “Classic.” Meanwhile, “Maid of Honour” showcases Drake’s experimentation by blending Chicago juke and 80s synth elements, incorporating catchy samples such as Peggy Gou’s “(It Goes Like) Nanana” in “Cheetah Print” and DJ Casper’s “Cha Cha Slide.”
The diversity in sound across the three albums highlights Drake’s versatility as an artist, solidifying his position as a chart-topping powerhouse in the music industry.
