Authorities confirmed that trained dogs specializing in locating human remains were unsuccessful in finding two missing children, Lilly and Jack Sullivan, in rural Nova Scotia. The siblings, aged 6 and 4, were reported missing on May 2 after their mother reported their disappearance in Lansdowne, a remote area in Pictou County.

Two dog teams from British Columbia covered 40 kilometers over a three-day search in late September. The teams, led by Staff Sgt. Rob McCamon, utilized police dogs Narc and Kitt to search the children’s last known whereabouts, nearby trails, and the location where a pink blanket had previously been discovered.

Although these search areas were deemed most likely to yield results, the missing children were not located. McCamon emphasized that while the search did not uncover the children, it does not rule out the presence of human remains in those areas.

The disappearance of Lilly and Jack prompted an extensive search effort involving 160 volunteers, service dogs, drones, and helicopters covering 8.5 square kilometers of dense woods. The case’s mysterious circumstances have attracted global attention.

Despite following up on over 860 tips, reviewing 8,060 video files, and conducting forensic tests, authorities have not classified the investigation as a criminal case. McCamon urged the public to provide any relevant information, emphasizing the importance of even seemingly insignificant details.

Authorities continue to explore all leads and possibilities in the ongoing investigation. McCamon stressed the relentless effort to uncover the truth behind the children’s disappearance, assuring that search efforts can be intensified if new information emerges.

In an interview, Daniel Martell, the children’s stepfather, recounted the search conducted around the property and inside the home. Martell expressed disappointment at the lack of findings and detailed a tense exchange with one of the search handlers.

Belynda Gray, the children’s paternal grandmother, expressed her lack of surprise at the search’s outcome and her concerns about the prolonged search. She called for expanded search efforts beyond Pictou County, questioning the progress made in the five months since the children went missing.

As the investigation continues, authorities remain committed to resolving the case and uncovering the truth behind Lilly and Jack Sullivan’s disappearance.
