Toronto police have announced the charging of an additional seven individuals for unlawfully operating drones over Rogers Centre during the Blue Jays post-season baseball matches. Utilizing specialized drone technology, the Toronto Emergency Management and Public Order Unit detected and intervened in seven unauthorized drone flights over and in the vicinity of the baseball stadium throughout the Sunday and Monday games earlier this week. Seven people faced a total of eight charges for contravening Canadian Aviation Regulations and breaching federally designated no-fly zones. The Rogers Centre’s drone policy aligns with the no-fly zone regulations of the nearby Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Earlier this month, two individuals were fined by law enforcement for flying drones over the stadium during games. The Blue Jays are scheduled to play at home on Sunday for Game 6 against the Seattle Mariners in the American League Championship Series.
