“Stellantis Recalls 1.3M Jeep SUVs and Trucks Over Fire Risk”

Share

Stellantis announced on Tuesday a global recall of over 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to fire risks. Owners are advised to park their vehicles away from structures or other vehicles until the issue is resolved.

The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator trucks from model years 2021 to 2025. The reason behind the recall is an electrical connection problem in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring, which could, in rare cases, lead to overheating of combustible materials and potentially result in a vehicle fire.

Approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the U.S., 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other global markets are included in the recall. Stellantis will be conducting inspections and may repair or replace the wiring harness or electric hydraulic power steering pump as needed.

The company aims to expedite the availability of the remedy and expects to have a fix in place by July at the latest. While there has been one reported injury associated with the issue, there have been no accidents or fatalities linked to it.
