Prime Video has announced the exciting casting for Season 2 of “Off Campus,” introducing Canadian actors Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla as the show’s central couple, Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes. Kalyn portrays the charming hockey defenceman, originating from Markham, Ont., with a background in hockey. Abdalla takes on the role of Allie, a student at Briar University who works at the college bar frequented by Dean and his hockey teammates.
The streaming platform unveiled this news through a video and promotional images, signaling a shift in focus to follow the book-based approach of “Off Campus.” Aligned with the bestselling novels by Elle Kennedy from Toronto, each season revolves around a different couple. Season 1 adapted “The Deal,” featuring Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, while Season 2 is anticipated to draw from the third book, “The Score,” portraying Dean and Allie’s relationship.
Louisa Levy, the creator and co-showrunner, expressed enthusiasm for continuing Allie and Dean’s storyline as the primary romance in Season 2, building on their relationship from the previous season. Levy also confirmed that Hannah and Garrett would remain important to the show.
The upcoming season will introduce new characters, including Philippa Soo as a theatre artist directing a play in the university drama department where Allie is studying. India Fowler will join as Grace Ivers, the love interest of hockey player John Logan and the focal point of the second book, “The Mistake.” Returning series regulars include Ella Bright, Belmont Cameli, Antonio Cipriano, and Jalen Thomas Brooks.
“Off Campus” has seen early success on Prime Video, ranking as the top show on Amazon Prime Video in Canada. With all eight episodes released on May 13, the series garnered 36 million global viewers within its first 12 days, positioning it as one of Prime Video’s successful launch seasons.
The show’s popularity has resonated with audiences, showcasing a promising future for the evolving narrative in Season 2.
