Renowned puppeteer Sid Krofft, known for creating quirky and colorful characters that captured audiences in the 1960s and ’70s, passed away peacefully on April 10 at the age of 96 at the residence of his close friend and business partner Kelly Killian. Together with his younger brother Marty, Krofft was the creative force behind several iconic TV series, notably their first television venture, “H.R. Pufnstuf,” which gained a devoted following.

Describing the show as their “first baby,” Krofft delighted viewers with the fantastical escapades of a young boy, a talking flute, and a towering dragon. His publicist, Adam Fenton, praised Krofft’s enduring passion for engaging with fans until the very end.

Ronnie Burkett, a friend and fellow puppeteer, fondly recalled Krofft’s youthful spirit and dedication to his craft. Reflecting on Krofft’s career longevity, Burkett highlighted the importance of focus and relentless pursuit of creative ideas, noting Krofft’s continuous stream of innovative concepts well into his late 90s.
