Cricket Canada has made the decision to immediately suspend its chief executive officer, Salman Khan, while ensuring he receives full pay and benefits. This action, as stated by Cricket Canada president Amjad Bajwa, aims to maintain the organization’s integrity and uphold procedural fairness.

The suspension follows charges of theft and fraud over $5,000 against Khan and another individual related to their involvement with the Calgary and District Cricket League. Khan denied the allegations in a social media post through the Alberta Cricket Association, emphasizing their falsity and asserting his readiness to defend himself.

Bajwa mentioned concerns about the negative impact associated with Khan, prompting the decision to suspend him. Although the charges have not been proven in court, they have influenced the organization, leading to the initiation of an independent special committee for a comprehensive review.

Cricket Canada reiterated its commitment to its vision, mission, players, communities, and partners within the Canadian cricket ecosystem. Additionally, the organization faced a recent suspension from the Canadian Safe Sport Program due to non-compliance with participant e-learning and consent requirements, but has since been reinstated after meeting the specified criteria.
