Tyler Mane, the actor known for his roles in “X-Men” and “Halloween,” has revealed that he has been diagnosed with breast cancer, a rare occurrence in men. Mane, aged 59, shared the news on Instagram, stating that only 1% of breast cancer cases are found in men.
Despite initially dismissing a lump he found on his chest last fall, Mane eventually sought medical attention at his wife’s insistence. The diagnosis in early April confirmed a rapidly growing form of breast cancer.
Breast cancer in men is considered extremely rare, accounting for less than 1% of all breast cancer cases in Canada. Dr. Mojola Omole emphasized the importance of understanding that breast cancer can affect everyone, as both men and women have breast tissue and are at risk.
Mane highlighted the tendency for men to ignore warning signs and delay seeking medical help due to societal perceptions. He urged men to prioritize their health and not shy away from getting checked.
Starting chemotherapy recently, Mane expressed determination to raise awareness about male breast cancer and promote early detection. He plans to share his journey through social media to break the silence surrounding this issue and encourage others to prioritize their health.
Despite the challenges ahead, Mane remains optimistic about his prognosis and aims to launch a podcast to further advocate for proactive health measures among men.
