Kelowna RCMP have reported the arrest and detention of an individual following a fire incident at Knox Mountain Park on Friday. The authorities cordoned off the park, situated in a residential vicinity near the city’s central area, upon the discovery of smoke and flames on the mountain slope. Alongside, police and the fire department aided hikers in descending from the mountain.
Despite concerns over high winds in the region, emergency crews successfully contained the fire by 4:45 p.m. PT, maintaining their presence at the scene. Knox Mountain Park, Kelowna’s largest natural park covering 3.85 square kilometres just north of downtown, was subject to controlled burning by the city on October 16.
