The B.C. Lions secured a thrilling 33-30 victory over the Calgary Stampeders in the West Division semifinal in Vancouver. Sean Whyte sealed the win with a 43-yard walk-off field goal. Quarterback Nathan Rourke impressed with 223 passing yards, completing 16 of 23 attempts and adding a rushing touchdown. Jeremiah Masoli and Robert Carter Jr. also contributed touchdowns for the Lions, with Whyte making four field goals, including the game-winner.
On the other side, Calgary’s Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 334 yards, connecting on 23 of 33 attempts and throwing touchdown passes to Clark Barnes and Jalen Philpott. Quincy Vaughn scored a rushing touchdown for the Stampeders, while Rene Paredes added two field goals, one from 50 yards out.
The Lions will now advance to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the West Division final on Nov. 8 in Regina. In the East Division semifinal, the Montreal Alouettes defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 42-33 to secure a spot in the East final against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on the same day. The winners of both division finals will compete at the Grey Cup in Winnipeg on Nov. 16.
