In a separate incident near the Baron Industrial Zone, masked settlers regrouped and attacked soldiers, resulting in damage to a military vehicle, as reported by the army. Palestinian Minister Muayyad Shaaban accused settlers of setting fire to dairy trucks, agricultural areas, and Bedouin structures while assaulting residents with stones. Shaaban denounced the attacks as part of a deliberate campaign to displace Palestinians from their land and criticized Israel for allegedly shielding and granting immunity to the settlers.
Political figures within the Israeli government, such as National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, have been linked to policies supporting settler expansion. Smotrich notably approved the construction of over 5,600 settler housing units this year, a record high for a single year, according to reports.
The escalating settler violence coincides with the Palestinian olive harvest season, with the United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs documenting a significant increase in attacks on Palestinians.
