FIFA plans to introduce a halftime show at the upcoming World Cup final, featuring performances by Shakira, Madonna, and K-pop group BTS. The event, set to take place at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19, aims to raise $100 million for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The show, curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, will merge music and football to support children’s education and soccer initiatives.

While halftime shows are common in events like the Super Bowl, soccer games traditionally reserve this time for player rest. It remains uncertain if the halftime break will be extended beyond the standard 15 minutes to accommodate the performances. FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed the importance of uniting music and football for a charitable cause on the grand sports stage.

Additionally, J Balvin is set to perform at the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City, alongside other headliners celebrating Mexican culture. The 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico, will span from June to July. This global sporting event promises to be a unique fusion of music and sport, showcasing top talent while supporting vital educational initiatives for children.
