The popular CBS TV show “Tracker” is set to relocate its production to California for its fourth season after filming in Vancouver and southern British Columbia for three seasons. Actor Justin Hartley stars in the series as a survivalist who tracks missing individuals for reward money. The move to Los Angeles comes after the production secured a $48 million US tax credit.

“Tracker” premiered in February 2024 and has been a ratings hit for CBS, airing on Global TV in Canada. The CEO of Martini Film Studios, Gemma Martini, expressed disappointment over losing the series, emphasizing the economic impact it had on local crews and the production industry in British Columbia.

The show’s showrunner, Elwood Reid, expressed gratitude to the Vancouver community for their support during the first three seasons but looks forward to starting production in Los Angeles with the help of the tax incentive program. California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office praised the move, highlighting the job opportunities it will bring to the local economy.

California’s $750 million incentive program attracted “Tracker” with the largest tax credit this year, encouraging studios to return to the state for filming. Meanwhile, British Columbia has also enhanced its incentive program to attract more productions, aiming to boost its economy and create jobs in the industry.

Despite “Tracker” relocating, Vancouver remains a hub for film and television productions, with several projects currently in production. The city continues to attract major series and films, showcasing its versatility and appeal to the entertainment industry.
