PODCAST | FRONT BURNER:

During its peak period, Marineland stood as the second most visited attraction in Ontario’s Niagara region, right after the renowned falls. Guests had the opportunity to closely interact with beluga whales, dolphins, and orcas, witnessing their captivating performances in grand shows. Complemented by thrilling rollercoasters and various exhibits, it was a beloved destination for families.

Nevertheless, the park has faced persistent controversies and accusations of animal mistreatment. Subsequently, its operations dwindled to the extent that it ceased public access. Despite this, numerous animals, including 30 beluga whales, are still confined within the park. Marineland emphasizes the urgent need for funding or relocation options for the whales, underlining the possibility of euthanasia if no solution is found.

Liam Casey from the Canadian Press has extensively reported on this unfolding narrative over the years, shedding light on the potential outcomes for the whales and the implications for similar establishments like Marineland.
