The alt-pop artist D4vd, a 21-year-old singer from Houston, has been taken into custody by Los Angeles police on suspicion of involvement in the death of a 14-year-old girl named Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The girl’s decomposed body was discovered inside a Tesla vehicle registered to the singer. The legal team representing D4vd, including Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter, firmly asserts his innocence in the matter.
Law enforcement officials have stated that they are detaining D4vd without bail and plan to present the case to the District Attorney’s Office for potential charges. The District Attorney’s Office will review the evidence to determine if sufficient grounds exist for filing charges against the singer.
D4vd’s defense attorneys emphasized that no formal charges have been filed against their client, and he is currently being held based on suspicion alone. This is the first public statement from the defense team since D4vd’s arrest, and they have vowed to vigorously defend his innocence.
The investigation into Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death began after her body was found on September 8, 2025, inside the abandoned Tesla, a day following what would have been her 15th birthday. The court documents revealed that the body was severely decomposed, with body parts dismembered and placed in bags within the vehicle.
Following the discovery of the body, D4vd initially continued with his music tour but later canceled the remaining shows and an upcoming European tour as reports linking him to the case surfaced. The singer has not provided any comments on the ongoing investigation.
The case remains under scrutiny, with authorities withholding the cause of death as the investigation progresses. Los Angeles police secured a court order in November 2025 to prevent the release of the autopsy findings.
The singer’s connection to the case became widely known, leading to the cancellation of his scheduled performances and tours.
