Vancouver’s women’s professional hockey team has officially added Nina Jobst-Smith, Brianna Brooks, and Madison Samoskevich to its roster, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. Jobst-Smith, hailing from North Vancouver, B.C., was selected in the third round, 19th overall, during the 2025 PWHL Draft. The 24-year-old defenseman served as captain for the University of Minnesota-Duluth, tallying 18 points (three goals, 15 assists) in 37 games during the 2024-25 season and earning All-WCHA Second Team recognition.
Brooks, a 23-year-old from Whitby, Ont., was chosen in the fourth round (32nd overall) from Penn State. The forward achieved a career-best 32 points while playing for the Nittany Lions and was named to the All-CHA Second Team in the 2023-24 season. Samoskevich, selected in the fifth round (39th overall), accumulated 84 points (19 goals, 65 assists) over 168 games at Quinnipiac University. The 22-year-old from Sandy Hook, Conn., transitioned from defense to forward in her final NCAA season.
Jobst-Smith signed a two-year contract, while Brooks and Samoskevich secured one-year deals. Vancouver and Seattle are set to become new additions to the PWHL as expansion teams for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
