The United States claimed their fourth International Para Hockey Cup title with a 3-0 win over Canada in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The U.S. team showcased a strong performance, scoring a short-handed goal and a power-play goal during the game.
Declan Farmer was instrumental for the U.S. team, scoring a power-play goal in the second period and sealing the victory with an empty-net goal in the final minute of the game. Coach David Hoff praised the team’s solid effort and performance throughout the tournament.
The first goal of the game came from Malik Jones, who intercepted a pass and scored a short-handed goal. Farmer later added another goal in the second period by outmaneuvering the Canadian goalie. Goalkeeper Griffin LaMarre made 11 saves to secure the shutout.
The U.S. has now won all four IPH Cup championships since the inaugural tournament in 2022. In this match, the Americans dominated the shots on goal, outshooting Canada 23-11 overall. The U.S. converted one of their four power-play opportunities, while Canada was unsuccessful in all five of their power plays.
Canada, who defeated Italy 9-1 to reach the final, will host the Para Cup in Dawson Creek, B.C., before the Milan-Cortina Paralympics in March. The Canadian team is optimistic about their progress and looks forward to showcasing their skills on home soil in the upcoming tournament.
