Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday a recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks globally due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured from 2019 to 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver-side seat belt buckle anchor that was not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s effectiveness and elevate the risk of injury to passengers. Stellantis has reported one potential injury associated with the recall but no fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 elsewhere outside North America. Impacted vehicle owners will be contacted by the automaker to arrange for an inspection at dealerships. Dealers will examine the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and make the necessary adjustments to ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body.
