“Pet Parrot Bleu’s 500km Daring Escape and Dramatic Return”

Share

A pet parrot named Bleu made a daring escape from her home in Torquay, Saskatchewan, flying 500 kilometers to Prince Albert. The Indian Ringneck parrot flew out of an open door at Rhys MacLean’s parents’ house on May 3, surprising everyone as she had never attempted such an escape before. Despite feeling hopeless about finding Bleu, MacLean posted on a community lost and found page in Estevan, not expecting much success.

To his surprise, the community rallied together, sending messages and tips to help locate Bleu. Despite the outpouring of support, finding the elusive parrot seemed impossible due to her elusive nature even in closed spaces. However, after a month, a woman in Prince Albert contacted the Saskatoon Parrot Rescue, having captured a blue parrot matching Bleu’s description.

The captured parrot turned out to be Bleu, much to everyone’s relief. Bleu returned home looking a bit worse for wear but quickly regained her usual spirited demeanor, reuniting with her cage-mate Kiwi. MacLean described Bleu’s return as a successful mission impossible, with the parrot bouncing back to her usual self after her adventurous journey.
