Toronto enthusiasts of the K-pop ensemble P1Harmony were pleasantly surprised with an unexpected fan gathering at Trinity Bellwoods Park on Wednesday evening. Known as a popular spot for impromptu celebrity meet-ups, the park recently hosted a surprise concert by singer Daniel Caesar.
Originally scheduled to headline a show at Coca Cola Coliseum, the six-member band, led by KEEHO from Markham, Ontario, faced a delay due to a system outage at the Canada-U.S. border. Their performance was rescheduled for October 7. Despite the setback, the group organized a spontaneous gathering to meet their fans, known as P1ece. Prior to their arrival at the park, P1Harmony live-streamed the announcement on Instagram.
Approximately 300 fans rushed to the park within an hour of the band’s announcement. KEEHO and the band members, INTAK, JONGSEOB, JIUNG, SOUL, and THEO, delighted fans with dance performances of their popular songs like “EX” and “Duh!” During the event, P1Harmony members encouraged fans to join them in dancing, challenging them to replicate the intricate choreography from the group’s tracks.
One fortunate fan, Bryce Guinta from Kitchener, Ontario, was selected to dance with the band. Guinta expressed his gratitude for the experience, mentioning that interacting with P1Harmony and receiving a fist bump from THEO was unforgettable. He learned about the surprise gathering through a fan chatroom on Discord and promptly headed to the park with his friends.
Another fan, Becky Menmuir, who traveled from Halifax to Toronto for a VIP meet-and-greet at the postponed show, found solace in the impromptu gathering. She commended the band for their dedication and expressed her increased admiration, planning to return for the rescheduled show after flying back to Nova Scotia.
KEEHO’s fondness for his hometown was evident during the meetup, with the singer frequently mentioning Toronto in videos and introducing local landmarks to his bandmates. Having been scouted by FNC Entertainment while attending Unionville High School, KEEHO’s journey to becoming a K-pop idol culminated in P1Harmony’s debut on October 28, 2020.
The event at Trinity Bellwoods Park not only provided fans with a memorable experience but also highlighted the unity and camaraderie within the K-pop community. Guinta and Menmuir emphasized the significance of sharing their love for P1Harmony with like-minded individuals, underscoring the sense of belonging and kinship fostered by their shared passion.
