LeBron James recently made a significant announcement that turned out to be a promotional ad. The basketball star, known for his past “decision” announcements, hinted at revealing something on Tuesday. This reference harked back to his 2010 announcement of joining the Miami Heat.

Originally planned for a noon Eastern release, the announcement by Hennessy, a brand James has been associated with, was made public 90 minutes earlier due to a change in James’ training schedule. In a video clip, James disclosed that he would be partnering with Hennessy V.S.O.P this fall, using phrasing reminiscent of his infamous “take my talents to South Beach” line from 15 years ago.

Hennessy disclosed that they would be launching a limited edition orange bottle featuring James’ name and his signature gesture, symbolizing his “King James” moniker. The brand stated that this decision signified a creative reunion and shared cultural legacy.

James had hinted at this campaign through a post, teasing “the decision of all decisions.” The teaser video depicted James walking towards a chair, reminiscent of his earlier “decision” announcement. Speculation ran rampant on social media following the teaser post, with many speculating on James’ future plans and the possibility of his retirement announcement.

Ticket prices for the Lakers’ last regular-season game in April surged on secondary markets, with fans anticipating a potential retirement announcement from James. Social media was abuzz with guesses, ultimately revealing that James’ latest “decision” was his involvement in an ad campaign.

“I like my decision,” James concludes in the ad, closing the announcement in his signature style.
