Pop singer Chappell Roan announced on Monday that she has ended her professional affiliation with the talent agency overseen by Casey Wasserman, the head of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, who has come under scrutiny for his past communication with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell over two decades ago. Wasserman, who was married at the time, has expressed regret for his interactions with Maxwell, following the publication of private emails exchanged between them dating back to 2003.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Roan stated, “Effective immediately, I am no longer under Wasserman’s representation. Artists require agents who share their values and prioritize their well-being. This choice reflects my belief that meaningful progress within our industry necessitates accountability and ethical leadership.”
Wasserman, a prominent figure in sports and entertainment, has refuted any personal or professional ties to Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell’s former partner. He clarified that his association with Maxwell predates the public knowledge of her and Epstein’s criminal activities. The talent agency linked to Wasserman did not offer an immediate response to these developments.
Maxwell, convicted in 2021 in New York for offenses including the trafficking of minors, is currently serving a 20-year prison term. Arrested in 2020, she was charged by federal authorities with the procurement and preparation of young women for illicit encounters with Epstein between 1994 and 2004. The recent disclosure of extensive internal documents by the U.S. Justice Department concerning Epstein has unveiled his connections to various influential individuals, both prior to and following his 2008 guilty plea on related charges. Epstein’s death in 2019 while in custody was officially ruled a suicide.
