Canada’s short track speed skaters had an impressive start to the ISU World Tour season in Montreal. William Dandjinou claimed victory in the men’s 500 meters, while Courtney Sarault secured gold in the women’s 1,000m event. Dandjinou led the race from start to finish, finishing in 40.350 seconds, with Steven Dubois taking the bronze medal. Sarault’s win in the women’s race was closely contested, with her finishing in 1:28.185 to claim the gold.

Dubois, a three-time Olympic medallist, expressed satisfaction with his performance and recovery from injury. Sarault highlighted the importance of their strong start for the team’s morale and international performance. The Canadian Ice Maples also added to the medal tally with a bronze in the women’s 3,000m relay.

The competition in Montreal will continue with live coverage available online. The results from the World Tour season will impact Olympic entries and participants at the upcoming 2026 Milan-Cortina Games in February.
