Canadian defender Moise Bombito, a key player for OGC Nice, has encountered another setback due to injury. The 25-year-old athlete from Montreal sustained a fractured left tibia during a recent match against Monaco in the French Ligue 1, as confirmed by his club.
After a prolonged absence following previous wrist and tibia injuries, Bombito had made a comeback to the field on September 28 against Paris FC. He was set to join the Canadian national team for upcoming friendlies against Australia and Colombia. However, his return was short-lived as he suffered the injury while trying to defend against Monaco’s Folarin Balogun.
Following the unfortunate incident, Bombito was taken off the field on a stretcher and subsequently received a yellow card. Monaco took advantage of the penalty kick to equalize the score at 2-2, adding to the disappointment for the Canadian star.
In response to Bombito’s injury, the Canadian men’s team expressed their support for him on social media. To fill the void left by Bombito, Kamal Miller, a seasoned defender from the Portland Timbers, has been called up by Canada.
Canada, currently ranked 26th in the FIFA world rankings, is gearing up to face Australia and Colombia in upcoming matches. Despite the setback, national team coach Jesse Marsch remains optimistic about Bombito’s future contributions to the team.
Bombito’s absence adds to the list of injured players for Canada, including captain Alphonso Davies and others. The team is facing challenges in maintaining their defensive lineup due to these setbacks.
