American singer Ariana Grande has requested the Trump administration to refrain from using her music to endorse its policies. This plea follows the White House sharing a TikTok video showcasing its immigration stance, featuring Grande’s song “Bye” from 2024.
In response to the video, Grande condemned the use of her music in connection with what she described as cruel and inhumane actions. A White House spokesperson defended the video, attributing the true brutality to criminal illegal immigrants who have harmed innocent American citizens.
A source close to Grande mentioned that efforts are underway to eliminate her music from the contentious video promptly. Last year, Grande criticized the administration after querying on Instagram whether supporters of Trump had experienced any improvements in their lives since his presidency.
This is not the first instance where an artist’s music has been utilized by the Trump administration without proper authorization. Several musicians, including Neil Young, John Fogerty, and Phil Collins, have objected to the unauthorized use of their songs and have taken legal action to prevent it.
President Trump, currently serving his second non-consecutive term, frequently employs social media to communicate his initiatives. His communication team often shares brief videos featuring popular songs to emphasize the president’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign pledges, covering topics such as immigration enforcement, military actions, and international arrests.
