McMaster University in Hamilton is set to host the 2025 U Sports Women’s Soccer Championship this week, attracting top university teams for an exciting competition. The games, starting on Thursday and running through Sunday, will culminate in the championship match at 5 p.m. on the final day. The tournament will feature eight competing teams vying for the prestigious Gladys Bean Memorial Trophy. The participating teams are seeded as follows: University of British Columbia (UBC), University of Montréal, University of Toronto, Cape Breton University, Laval University, Trinity Western University, McMaster University, and University of Guelph.

The UBC Thunderbirds are aiming for their third consecutive national title and have maintained an impressive defensive record, conceding just one goal throughout the season. If successful, they would become the first program in modern U Sports women’s soccer history to achieve a three-peat. In contrast, the McMaster Marauders are making their first appearance in the national championship since 2018 when they finished fourth.

Fans can catch the action live on CBC Sports platforms, including CBC.ca/sports, CBC Sports YouTube, and the CBC Gem app. The matches will take place at Ron Joyce Stadium, with ticket prices ranging from $5 to $25 based on the day and ticket type. The tournament schedule includes quarterfinals on Thursday, semifinals on Friday, consolation matches on Saturday, and the bronze and gold medal matches on Sunday.

Don’t miss the thrilling quarterfinal match between Laval and Cape Breton, starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday. The tournament promises intense competition as teams battle for glory and the championship title.
