Tory Lanez’s appeal of his guilty verdict for shooting at Megan Thee Stallion was rejected by a California court on Wednesday. The decision was made by a three-judge panel from the California 2nd District Court of Appeal, upholding the Canadian rapper’s conviction on three felony charges. Lanez, 32, was found guilty in December 2022 of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possessing a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and reckless discharge of a firearm.
During the trial, Megan testified that Lanez fired a gun at her feet after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s residence in July 2020. She revealed that Lanez told her to dance as she walked away from the SUV they were in with two others. Following the incident, Megan had to undergo surgery to remove bullet fragments from both feet. It wasn’t until later that she publicly identified Lanez as the shooter.
Lanez, also known as Daystar Peterson, has not commented on the recent ruling through his attorneys. However, they have the option to appeal to the California Supreme Court. Megan’s representatives have not provided immediate comments on the matter.
Currently, Lanez is serving a 10-year prison sentence at the California Men’s Colony near San Luis Obispo. He was transferred there after being attacked by a fellow inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Lanez, who started his music career with mixtapes in 2009, gained popularity over the years, releasing successful major label albums that reached the top 10 on Billboard’s charts.
