Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd. has disclosed a data breach involving the personal information of customers stored in an e-commerce database. The affected data pertains to individuals with e-commerce accounts at Canadian Tire, SportChek, Mark’s/L’Equipeur, and Party City. The compromised information includes names, addresses, emails, birth years, encrypted passwords, and, in some instances, partial credit card details. Approximately 150,000 account holders had their full birth dates exposed in the breach.

Canadian Tire reassures that the breached data is insufficient to access accounts for unauthorized purchases and has no impact on in-store transactions. The company has addressed the identified vulnerability as of October 2 and is collaborating with security experts to bolster its security measures.
