The 55th annual Juno Awards continued with its second night on Sunday, featuring electrifying performances by Rush, The Beaches, Daniel Caesar, Cameron Whitcomb, and more. The evening saw the presentation of accolades, with The Beaches securing the group of the year award for the third time, Daniel Caesar winning the contemporary R&B recording of the year for “Son of Spergy,” Whitcomb claiming breakthrough artist of the year, and bbno$ clinching the fan choice award.
The banquet held on Saturday saw a majority of the approximately 50 categories being awarded. Alberta’s Tate McRae emerged as a standout winner, adding to her impressive track record with six wins in 2024 and 2025, including artist and single of the year for “Greedy.” This year, McRae garnered six additional nominations, already securing four wins for artist, single (“Sports Car”), pop album, and album (“So Close to What”) of the year.
Daniel Caesar, also known as Ashton Simmonds, secured the songwriter of the year award, while the fan choice award went to Vancouver rapper bbno$. Despite her remarkable success, McRae did not attend the ceremonies on Saturday.
The festivities on Sunday included an array of award categories such as fan choice, breakthrough artist or group of the year, group of the year, and contemporary R&B recording of the year. Noteworthy wins on Saturday included singer Aysanabee picking up the alternative album and contemporary Indigenous artist or group of the year awards for “Edge of the Earth.” A tie occurred for the adult alternative album of the year, with both Bahamas’ “My Second Last Album” and Begonia’s “Fantasy Life” being honored.
The ceremonies also featured special recognitions, including Hamilton’s Raquel McIntosh winning the MusiCounts teacher of the year award and Nelly Furtado being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Billy Talent received a humanitarian award, and Daniel Caesar was honored with an international achievement award.
The night concluded with a tribute to iconic musician Joni Mitchell, who received a lifetime achievement award presented by Prime Minister Mark Carney. The Juno Awards celebrated the diverse talents and achievements within the music industry, showcasing a range of genres and recognizing outstanding contributions across various categories.
The event highlighted the depth of talent in the Canadian music scene and honored both established artists and emerging talents for their creativity and artistry.
