Hyundai has issued a caution regarding the seatbelt system in select 2026 Palisade models. According to a notice on Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database, certain vehicles may experience wiring damage in the seatbelt of the third-row, left-hand side seat when pulled. This wiring issue could lead to a misleading seatbelt indicator showing the seatbelt as fastened when it is not, potentially causing confusion and increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Approximately 4,203 vehicles in Canada could be impacted by this seatbelt concern. Hyundai will contact affected drivers via written notification, urging them to visit a dealership for the necessary seatbelt wiring repair. Alternatively, drivers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their vehicle identification number on Hyundai’s online recall lookup website or by calling 1-888-216-2626.
Earlier this year, Hyundai recalled numerous vehicles in the U.S. and Canada and halted sales of specific new Palisade models due to a separate issue involving some second and third-row power seats failing to stop moving upon detecting contact with a passenger or object. The recall was prompted by a tragic incident in Ohio where a two-year-old child lost their life.
