Ottawa Senators’ Captain Tkachuk Out 6-8 Weeks

Ottawa Senators’ captain Brady Tkachuk is set to miss six to eight weeks following a successful surgery on his right thumb injury, as confirmed by the NHL team on Thursday. The decision for surgery was made after Tkachuk sought a second opinion in New York, as stated by team owner Michael Andlauer on Wednesday.

Tkachuk sustained the thumb injury during a collision with Nashville’s Roman Josi early in Monday night’s game, forcing him to exit in the third period. The 26-year-old forward is expected to make a comeback by late November or early December, well ahead of the Milan-Cortina Olympics in February. Both Tkachuk and his brother Matthew from the Florida Panthers, who is also recovering from an injury and anticipated to return in December, have already been selected for the U.S. team roster.
