Sarah McLachlan, Allison Russell, and Cameron Whitcomb are set to grace the stage at the 55th Juno Awards in Hamilton on March 29. McLachlan and Russell will team up for a special performance in honor of Joni Mitchell, who is being bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award this year. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences lauded Mitchell for her significant contributions to music globally, redefining songwriting.

Mitchell, a five-time Juno winner, clinched the best vocal jazz album accolade for her 2001 release, “Both Sides Now.” Both McLachlan and Russell were part of the “Joni Jam” live band, a collective organized by Brandi Carlile to accompany Mitchell following her health ordeal in 2015. Russell showcased “Both Sides, Now” at the 2025 SOCAN Awards, where Mitchell was honored with the Global Impact Award. McLachlan often includes Mitchell’s songs in her performances, notably “River,” which featured on her 2006 album “Wintersong.”

Nanaimo’s Cameron Whitcomb will make his Junos debut this year, boasting five nominations and a performance featuring tracks from his nominated album “The Hard Way.” Whitcomb, known for his raw and heartfelt country music, gained popularity following his appearance on “American Idol” in 2022. His candid storytelling about overcoming addiction has resonated with fans, as he shared in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

In addition to McLachlan, Russell, and Whitcomb, the lineup for the Juno Awards includes the Beaches, Arkells, William Prince, and Daniel Caesar. The Juno Week Kickoff concert on March 26 will feature James Barker Band, Robyn Ottolini, Sacha, Kalsey Kulyk, and the Redhill Valleys. Junofest, a two-night concert series by CBC on March 27 and 28 across various venues in Hamilton, will showcase nearly 70 artists, including Great Lake Swimmers, Katie Tupper, Sebastian Gaskin, and Terra Lightfoot.

A special ceremony on the morning of March 28 will celebrate Indigenous voices in music, with performances by Little Creek Singers, Siibii, and YB Nakota. The event promises a diverse and vibrant showcase of musical talent leading up to the prestigious Juno Awards ceremony.
