Canadian Artists Shine in 2026 Grammy Nominations

Canadian artists, including Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, and Drake, have been nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards. Bieber received four nominations for his surprise album “Swag,” contending for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year. This marks Bieber’s fifth nomination in the pop vocal album category, tying him with Justin Timberlake. Additionally, his tracks “Daisies” and “Yukon” are up for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best R&B Performance, respectively.

Cirkut, a Halifax producer and previous Grammy winner, leads the Canadian nominations with seven nods. His nominations include Producer of the Year, non-classical, for his work on Lady Gaga’s “Mayhem” and Ed Sheeran’s “Play.” Cirkut is also nominated for Record of the Year for Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” and Bruno Mars and Rosé’s “Apt,” as well as Album of the Year for “Mayhem” and Best Dance Pop Recording for “Abracadabra.”

Tate McRae, a pop star from Calgary, earned her first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording for her track “Just Keep Watching” from the “F1” soundtrack, which is also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

Other notable Canadian nominees include Tobias Jesso Jr., Vancouver’s songwriter of the year Grammy winner in 2023, nominated again for Songwriter of the Year, non-classical. Spiritbox, a metal band from Victoria, received a nomination for Best Metal Performance. Audio engineer and mixer Serban Ghenea, a 23-time Grammy winner, picked up six nominations, including Record of the Year for his work on Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” and Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra.”

Drake, making a return after his last nomination in 2024, earned a nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance with PartyNextDoor for their song “Somebody Loves Me.” On the other hand, The Weeknd, who ended his Grammy boycott but did not receive any nominations, released the album “Hurry Up Tomorrow” within the eligibility period.
