In Quebec and Ontario, law enforcement officials apprehended 13 individuals on Tuesday in connection with the killing of a 45-year-old woman who was mistakenly targeted instead of her son, a member of a notorious gang. The arrests consisted of men and women aged between 18 and 51 years old. Six of the suspects are set to face charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in court later today.
Captain Marie-Manon Savard from the Quebec City police disclosed that the individuals arrested were involved in the homicide of Jennifer Morin, who tragically lost her life at her residence in Quebec City in December 2024. Savard further clarified that Morin’s death was a case of mistaken identity, as the perpetrators had intended to target her son, Jeffrey Morin, affiliated with the notorious gang known as the Blood Family Mafia.
The operation on Tuesday was spearheaded by Quebec City police, with the collaboration of over 200 officers from the Ontario Provincial Police and various Quebec departments, targeting 14 different locations. Simultaneous raids were carried out in Montreal, particularly at an apartment complex in the Lachine borough.
One of the suspects linked to Morin’s murder was apprehended at the Quebec City detention center, where they were previously in custody. The ongoing power struggle between the Blood Family Mafia and the Hells Angels biker gang in and around Quebec City has resulted in a series of violent incidents, including several homicides.
Following his mother’s tragic death, Jeffrey Morin, who had been involved in cocaine distribution, pleaded guilty to drug and weapons trafficking charges in July and was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison. Court documents revealed that an undercover agent had been purchasing cocaine and semi-automatic assault weapons from Morin during that period.
Describing Tuesday’s police operation as one of the largest in the history of the Quebec City police force, Captain Savard emphasized the extensive analysis and investigation that led to the successful execution of the raids.
