“Aritzia to Open Flagship Store in Vancouver’s CF Pacific Centre”

Vancouver-based clothing retailer Aritzia is preparing to launch a 40,000-square-foot flagship store in the CF Pacific Centre, taking over the space previously occupied by Nordstrom. While Aritzia already has a presence in Pacific Centre, the company announced on Wednesday that it has secured a location for a “flagship boutique” at the corner of Robson and Howe streets in 2027.

Established in Vancouver in 1984, Aritzia has seen significant growth in popularity, especially in the United States. The annual Aritzia warehouse sale in Vancouver continues to attract thousands of shoppers. According to a retail analyst and professor, Aritzia’s new boutique will occupy only a portion of the former Nordstrom space, leaving room for additional retailers to move in.

David Ian Gray, a business instructor at Capilano University, mentioned that the space was too large even for Nordstrom and will now be subdivided. He believes that by securing Aritzia, a renowned Canadian retailer, it may attract more prime target companies to the area or help finalize negotiations with other potential tenants.

The departure of Nordstrom in 2023 and the recent closure of Hudson’s Bay have left vacant spaces in downtown Vancouver. Gray noted that these empty spaces create a gap in the market and impact nearby businesses and residents. Aritzia plans to introduce a “casual-yet-elevated dining concept” in its new four-storey store, aiming to enhance the Aritzia experience in the city center.

Aritzia CEO Jennifer Wong expressed excitement about expanding their presence in Vancouver, where the brand originated. Gray praised Aritzia as one of Canada’s leading retailers, specializing in the “affordable luxury” segment that is gaining popularity globally. He emphasized that Aritzia’s quality products, vertical integration from design to production, and strong retail and online presence position them as a competitive Canadian brand in the market.
